This is an open, welcoming social group for those who feel cutoff or isolated in the modern world of the internet and geographic separation, and want to reconnect on a regular basis with others in their local community, for the purposes of sharing food, stories, music, conversation, play, and any other element of life that can benefit from direct human interaction, which was once provided for by the village/tribe/extended family, but has become harder to hold onto in an age of geographic mobilit …

I am a new Irish traditional music player (I play the fiddle and the concertina). I'm still new to both instruments having only been playing the fiddle for about a year and the concertina for about 2 years and I'm trying to find people in the greater Trenton area that are in the same situation. I've been to a few sessions (seisiún) at Irish pubs and coffee houses and realized that most of the times the tempos are a bit fast for a beginner. I'm looking to get together with a few other musicians w …
… Sometimes the music is unplugged, sometimes a small-ish PA is used if the room is larger. Crowds can be from 20-200, depending on the house. Some are in the living room, in the basement, or in the backyard. Each House Concert series has its own personality and we encourage you to explore them all. What kind of music will I hear? That depends on the series. Some hosts like to book folky, singer-songwriter types, others prefer blues, bluegrass, Celtic, Jazz, Classical - check out the series to se …

Hi Folks ... Instead of creating our usual grooves that intermingle on the drums, we will do the same, but with our voices in a very playful, intuitive and spontaneous way, improvised on the spot. Much of this exploration will be influenced on work I have done with Bobby McFerrin, who created his Circle Songs method. Quoting McFerrin ... "It's primal, unadorned singing. I've always felt that singing a song without words makes one song a thousand songs because the people who hear it can bring th …
… We remember when Man Walked On The Moon: our folks woke us to watch & of course Walter Cronkite narrated. We saw Saturday Night Fever, Jaws, StarWars, Animal House, Airplane, RiskyBusiness, Breakfast Club & Aliens. We recall "Happy Days" before Fonzie jumped the shark. When we were in our 20's, TV was all about the "30somethings, " Princess Di's wedding and Luke+Laura's too. We loved LoveBoat, MagnumPI, Dynasty & Cheers. We wore polyester & danced to disco. We also listened to Pure Prairie Leagu …
Join us for the fun of dancing, with great live music! English Country Dancing is social, community dancing, where one of the pleasures is interacting with everyone in the room. New people are welcome any time, and you don't need to bring a partner. Often the first thing that attracts people is the splendid live music.
