"Expand Your Noise!" Calling all acoustic musicians (or wanna be's like me. :) This is a group about getting those instruments out...walking proudly into the world and expanding your noise! Simply put it's an acoustic jam group, but potentially, sooooooo.. much more! My vision is that it will be many goofy, memory making moments strung together as well as a way to connect with other musicians, family and friends. We will get together once a month to play (and I use this term loosely) MUSIC! ..... …

The aim of this group is to get together with people who enjoy playing music from the middle-east, and surrounding areas. Any relevant instruments are welcome. It is open to people who would like to learn new songs, or teach what they know, or just improvise on middle-eastern themes in an informal group setting. It is open to people of all levels, even absolute beginners. It is also open to dancers. We'd like to keep the group focused specifically on this type of music. As such, you should genu …

We are having a sing-along party, and you're invited! The Pittsboro Song Circle happens in Chatham County (near the Orange County line) on the second Friday of the month. We have pot luck munchies -- bring a snack or drink, and your voices and enthusiasm. We use a "play, pick, or pass" format for our circles. We sit in a large circle, and each person gets a chance to perform something, request something (either by title or general subject), or pass. This makes for a very eclectic mix of musi …

If you're in the Chapel Hill, North Carolina area, and you want to have fun playing the uke with friendly people, the UUkes welcome you! This group was started by members of the Community Church of Chapel Hill (Unitarian Universalist) who wanted to play ukulele together. Since then, membership has expanded beyond church members, but we maintain our affiliation with the church and perform at services and other church events, including the annual music gala. When we get together, we play a lot fro …

We are a group of folks that love to get together and play classical chamber music, particularly string quartets. Rather than be "one of a crowd" in an orchestra, in a quartet, you OWN your part! We are looking for folks that can sightread well enough to play a Mozart quartet without exploding. Events will be scheduled with the pieces identified ahead of time, but one never knows where things will go.
This is an UNOFFICIAL page for the Uke Jam that [usually] meets at High Strung Violins and Guitars in Durham, North Carolina. We meet weekly to play our acoustic instruments and to experience the joy of music shared. Each person in the circle takes a turn in saying what the next song will be. He/she says what the key is and says what the chords are. Others then follow along. This jam is best for intermediate skilled musicians. Types of music include folk, blues, mellow rock, bluegrass, country and gospel.
We were formed in January of 2012 with the purpose of enticing folks from the Rockingham County/ Danville area out from behind their TV and computer to join in some great conversation, shared meals and adventures. We've tended to enjoy a lot of good food and drink together so far and are looking to expand our activities to include more activities like kayaking (for beginners), bike rides (easy going ones), walks, hikes, winetastings, trips to historic places, plays, and more. We'd LOVE it if y …

Politically conservative and socially liberal? We seem to be a rare breed these days! Looking to connect with like-minded folks in the Triangle for house parties, dinner/drinks, concerts, weekend adventures, whatever. Please note that this is NOT a political group; it is purely social. Those just seem like the best descriptors to use to reach the people I hope to reach. (That said, a number of people have asked what I mean by this. I mean fiscally conservative; a believer in minimal government, …

I organized a group like this years ago (before Meetup.com existed) that worked great (lots of good veggie food, fun & fellowship). Also, there are vegetarian & Christian meetup groups, but I decided to start organizing this one so there will be more offerings for our community! The format that worked well before was a potluck at member homes &/or churches on a rotating monthly basis, so I envision doing the same again. Depending on interest, in addition to breaking bread together we might incl …
