Like to sing? Or play? Like FOLK music? The only thing we won't have is a campfire! (Here's a nice write up about us: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2411302/folk_mus...
You don't have to be a professional singer or an experienced musician to participate in a Sing-Along! Just bring what you've got -- your voice, your instrument -- and plan to have a good time! Plenty of opportunities here for jamming and/or for impromptu harmonizing.
We often refer back to the Rise Up Singing songbook for words and chords of basic, familiar folk songs.

If you want to sharpen your ear, so you can hear a chord as well as playing it, go to this site and click on the graphic of the chord. Bing! The chord plays! Then -- Bing bing bing bing -- depending on how many strings are compressed.
To get a variety of written-out uploaded by our members, do this:
The menu listing on the left side of the main Meetup page for the group has an option titled "Files". Clicking on "Files" opens a webpage. The page has all the songs people have brought in and shared listed in alphabetical order, to date. Clicking on a song title will open a pdf of the song sheet that should be printable.
You can upload music you'd like to share, then email me to remind people, and we'll download it a couple days before the next meeting, so we'll all have a copy (sticking with the book can get boring!).
Our Current Location: Starbucks in Oakwood (south end of greater Dayton) -- but we may explore two additional locations soon, to use at a different time of the month (we'll keep the Oakwood Starbucks and start an added group time, maybe):

What we discovered last time we met at Starbucks in Oakwood:
(1) We can hear each other better in the back room at Starbucks and meetings are lasting longer (because people like it more) - and -
(2) People who like our south-of-town meetings don't really care whether we start a north-of-town meeting. Read more
