Founded

Our purpose is to have a great time singing and playing all kinds of folk music as a group.

Anyone who loves folk music -- from the 60's Woodstock era to the present, including roots music, Irish music and folk/country -- will enjoy this group. We welcome those that can sing and/or play wonderfully and those who like to sing along or just listen.

We welcome all acoustical musicians who love the genre and enjoy having others sing along.

If as a result of this meetup, other gatherings emerge -- from trips to folk festivals, audiences for open mics or member performances, lists of coffeehouses or great venues -- that will all be gravy.

Folks,

Pete Seeger is playing at Damrosch Park at 11 am so I thought that this was a good place to meet -- outside with Pete and others. A park but an urban one! And FREE.

What members are saying

for the reasons I stated above

Singing is fun and we also eat & drink. We sing a real diversity of songs - old & new folk, country, some pop tunes.

Hello! I am a long-time folkie with special interest in folk/labor/union songs; a big fan of Seeger, Glazer & Guthrie. Glad to find a singing group like meetup in NYC!
