Get together with fellow folk fans! All are welcome, especially those who sing loud and proud and/or play an instrument. Knowledge of folk music is also helpful.
We use the Rise Up Singing songbook as our source for most songs and take turns selecting a song for the group to sing and play (passing's OK). Because these are sing alongs, participants are strongly encouraged to bring a copy of the book or buy one at the session. Each participant also has the option of going solo or handing out lyrics to a song not in the book.
We meet the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 2 to 5 pm in a comfortable indoor location in Crystal City (Arlington), VA, close to metro. There are many parking garages in the area (the closest is at 23rd St & Crystal Dr) and they're free on weekends.
We sing well-known traditional songs (and not so well-known songs members want to teach us), as well as those by the big names from the '50s to '70s and beyond. Even occasional Beatles and traditional British and Irish folk by Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention, the Irish Weavers, etc.
